Payroll Alert - WARNING!
This product contains tax tables for 2007/08 and the new payment summary format that takes effect from 1st July 2007.
You must process employee pays and payment summaries for the 2006/07 financial year prior to installing this product. Otherwise your 2006/07 pay calculations will not be correct and your employees will receive the wrong payment summary forms.
Once you have installed this update, QuickBooks will use the 2007/08 tax tables to calculate pays.
You will need your Quicken ID number to access the Quicken web site to download the July updates including the tax table for 2007 at www.quicken.com.au Follow the instructions.
When you reopen Quicken check you have the current tax table. Employees > Tax Table Information > Calculation are Updated for:

QuickBooks 2007/08 Service Pack 1
QuickBooks 2007/08 Service Pack 1 is an update for QuickBooks 2007/08. It includes tax enhancements that are important for all QuickBooks users.
Service Pack 1 description
QuickBooks 2007/08 Service Pack 1 incorporates several enhancements to the Australian version, including service fixes and the PAYG Tax Tables, HELP and SFSS component rates for the 2007/08 financial year. It also includes tax updates for the New Zealand , Singapore and Philippines versions of QuickBooks.
Who needs to install this service pack?
If you use QuickBooks 2007/08 (Premier, Pro, Plus, Accounting), you should install this service pack.
Enhancements and fixes
QuickBooks 2007/08 Service Pack 1 includes the following enhancements and fixes:
New ETP Payment Summary forms
As of 1 July 2007 there will be a new ETP Payment Summary format for Australia . QuickBooks has included this new format in the service pack for the 2007/08 financial year.
New Amendment indicator for INB & ETP Payment Summaries
Amended payment summaries can now be submitted eletronically to the ATO. Amended Payment Summaries must have an amendment indicator and clearly state Amended at the top of the payment summary. QuickBooks has included this new functionality in the service pack for the 2007/08 financial year.
New EMPDUPE file format
As of 1 July 2007 there will be a new EMPDUPE file format taking the version from 7.4 to 8.0. QuickBooks has included this new format in this service pack. The prior version of EMPDUPE v7.4 will no longer be accepted by the ATO. The new EMPDUPE file format includes the amendment indicator for Payment Summaries being re-submitted.
HELP and SFSS
HELP and SFSS component rates have been included for the 2007/08 financial year.
State Payroll Tax rate
Updated State Payroll Tax rates have been included for the 2007/08 financial year.
PAYG Tax Tables
Updated PAYG Tax Tables have been included for the 2007/08 financial year.
Singapore update
The default GST rate for Singapore has been raised from 5% to 7%. This change is included in this service pack.
New Zealand update
QuickBooks Service Pack 1 includes changes to the GST101 report. Also, a direct link to the NZ online backup solution has been added from inside QuickBooks.

Installing QuickBooks 2007/08 Service Pack 1
- Process all pays and payment summaries for the 2006/07 financial year.
- Ensure that your copy of QuickBooks 2007/08 is activated. Click on Help menu > My Licence Information. If QuickBooks is not activated you can activate online by clicking File menu > Activate QuickBooks OR File menu > Refresh QuickBooks Licence.
- Create a backup of your QuickBooks 2007/08 company file(s).
- Exit from QuickBooks 2007/08.
- Download the 'QB2007-08SP1.exe' file and save it to a location on your hard drive (For example, C:\[temp] or the Desktop).
- Use Windows Explorer to locate 'QB2007-08SP1.exe', the file you just saved, and double-click it to run the setup program.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install QuickBooks 2007/08 Service Pack 1. After installing the service pack successfully, you can delete the 'QB2007-08SP1.exe' file. Alternatively, save it to a safe location in case you need to re-install QuickBooks and this service pack at a later date.
- [ Vista users only] If you receive a "Program Compatibility Message", click "This program installed correctly" and continue with the installation.
- The first time you open QuickBooks 2007/08, a message displays informing you that 'QuickBooks has recently downloaded a software update'. Click Yes to update QuickBooks. Note: On some operating systems, a QuickBooks login dialog may appear the first time you open QuickBooks. Click OK to proceed.
- The QuickBooks Update Utility will commence. When it has reached 100%, QuickBooks displays a message that 'Your version of QuickBooks 2007/08 is now up to date'. Click OK. QuickBooks will now open.
- Check that QuickBooks 2007/08 Service Pack 1 has been installed correctly by pressing CTRL+1 on your keyboard simultaneously. This displays the Product Information dialog. The 'Versions Used on File' (middle of screen) should state 'V16.OA R4 [date]'. This indicates that you have installed the service pack successfully.
Note: If you are using QuickBooks 2007/08 in a multi-user environment, you need to install this service pack on all workstations accessing your company file. You cannot use a company file in a multi-user environment unless all installations are updated to the same version.
